Delight in the wonders of the past

Marbella is blessed to have on Old Town that tells much of its history. The history of the town can be traced back to 1600 BC, which means that every nook and cranny in town has a story to tell to whoever wanders in its path.

There is a Moorish castle, several whitewashed buildings and the famous “Orange Square” where the citrus scent is just a delight.

Take part in various activities

There’s more to Marbella than just the sun-drenched beach. The town is home to several spectacular golf courses designed by Steve Ballesteros, Clive Clark and Peter Alliss.

You can also witness a horse race just 15 minutes from the centre at the Hipodromo Mijas Costa. It is an all-weather race track with several races throughout the year.

Marbella also serves as the base if you want to ski at the famous Sierra Nevada.

Of course, water-based activities are never far away when you are in Marbella. One of the most popular ones to do is parasailing where you will fly more than 70 metres high for about 12 minutes.

Go on a culinary and cultural adventure

Seafood forms the base of the cuisine in Marbella with fried fish being the most common dish. There’s also gazapcho, garlic soup and a variety of pastries.

Other than the historical sites, you can also see the culture of Marbella through its different themed museums. Some of these include the Contemporary Spanish Engraving Museum (20th century prints), Bonsai Museum (collection of different plant species) and Ralli Museum (Latin American art).

Whether it’s history you want or the warm sun-kissed beaches, Marbella has those to offer and much more. It’s a place that is truly a cosmopolitan heaven where there’s a lot more to see than just the lovely coast.
